Terms and Conditions of Hire

CONFIRMATION OF IDENITY AND HOME ADDRESS

• The hirer is required to provide original documentary proof of identity and home address.  One identification document is required and two address verification documents (listed below).

DEPOSIT

• A fully refundable cash deposit is required of £            .00 (this can be made in cash with up to £250.00 by cheque with valid guarantee card).  In certain circumstances a valid UK passport may be accepted as part deposit assuming a notional value of £75.

LIABILITY

• All bicycles are ridden at the risk of hirer.
• Accepting this agreement is accepting full liability for any accident or injury to either the hirer or any third party. The hirer is at all times personally liable for any accident that they may cause or be involved in and any damage to people or property.
• Personal insurance cover is recommended.
• Accepting this agreement is accepting that the hirer has checked the bicycle and is satisfied that it is in acceptable condition, well maintained, safe and fit for purpose.  It is recommended that the hirer familiarises themselves with the bicycle prior to riding on a public highway. 

PROTECTION FROM THEFT

• A high quality lock is provided with each bicycle.
• The bicycle must be locked to a permanent fixture all the time it is not being ridden.  In addition overnight it is recommended that the bicycle be locked indoors or in a secure outbuilding or garage.
• Accepting this agreement is accepting full liability for the safekeeping of the bicycle and payment for full market value of the bicycle will be pursued by Desire 2 Ride from the hirer should it be stolen (all deposits will be kept by Desire 2 Ride if the bicycle is stolen and deducted from the full market value payment pursued).  For the avoidance of any doubt the full market value is agreed with the hirer of £            .00

MECHANICAL FAILURE

• The hirer is responsible for repairing any punctures and tools are provided for this purpose.
• Desire 2 Ride take all reasonable steps to ensure the hire bicycle is well maintained.  In the event of mechanical failure notify Desire 2 Ride as soon as possible by telephone.  Authorisation is given for minor repairs or adjustments of up to £35.00 and Desire 2 Ride will reimburse the hirer provided it is deemed that the failure is not a result of reckless, negligent or imprudent use of the bicycle.  A printed receipt must be submitted.  Any repair in excess of £35.00 must first be approved by Desire 2 Ride. 
• In the event of a serious mechanical failure Desire 2 Ride will assist the hirer in the recovery of the bicycle within 24-hours of notification provided it is within a 50 mile radius of ST16 1DB.  If beyond a 50-mile radius a recovery charge of 30p per additional mile will be incurred by the hirer.

Identification (1)

• Current valid signed GB passport
• Full current GB driving licence
• Photo student identity card (from a recognised university or college)
• Current EU national identity card

Address verification (2)

• Electoral register search
• Utility bill (issued within last 3 months)
• Full current republic of Ireland driving licence
• Bank/Building society/Credit card statement (issued within last 3 months)
• Notification of determination of tax credits for current tax year
• Current house insurance certificate or schedule
• Current motor insurance certificate or schedule
• Current benefits book
• Current local authority services bill (issued within last 6 months)
